Social work practitioners' congress held

The 1st Manipur Social Work Practitioners’ congress cum felicitation of two professional social workers including Education Minister Th Radheshyam was organised by Association of Professional Social Workers (APSW) today at APSW premises located at Singjamei Chingamakha Chanam Pukhri Mapal .
S Saratkumar Sharma, Chairperson, Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Right (MCPCR) was another professional social worker feted during the function .
Speaking at the function, Education Minister Th Radheshyam said social work is a noble profession.
As such social work professionals in the State who are engaged in giving counselling to drug addicts, bonded labourers, widows, etc need sincere encouragement from all concerned .
In line with Prime Minister Modi’s slogan of 'Sabke Saath Sabka Vikas,' all concerned have a role towards the development of the society and State by fulfilling the jobs assigned to each individual .
Assuring possible assistance to the initiatives of APSW, the Minister urged them to submit their projects to the department in written .
The need to establish Mental Health Service at District Hospitals and Primary Health Centres and the necessity to provide correctional services to prisoners were also highlighted to the Minister during the programme .
According to the organisers, the main objective of the MSW Congress is to discuss the various fields of intervention of the social work professionals and the challenges they faced in the State .
Various projects/programmes to be undertaken were also discussed during the programme .
Amongst others, the programme was also attended by K Sanajaoba, retd Joint Director, Social Welfare Dept; I Ibetombi, retd Associate Professor, RIMS and N Jibanmala.
