Imphal, October 13 2012: A newly constructed SDO office at Kamjong and a Transport office inside Ukhrul mini-Secretariat complex were inaugurated on October 11 by Works and Transport Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar.

Speaking at the inaugural functions, Dr Ratankumar asserted that the State Government is committed to equitable development of all the Assembly Constituencies without any distinction whether their representatives belong to the ruling party or opposition parties.

The Minister also made field assessment of the development projects particularly road infrastructure which would be taken up in Ukhrul district under the Prime Minister's package.

The Works Minister's entourage included Parliamentary Secretary Victor Keishing, MLA MK Preshow, Principal Secretary (Works) Ram Muivah, PWD Chief Engineer S Lokendro, Transport Director BK Sharma and ICHAM president N Boy.

Addressing the inaugural functions at Kamjong and Ukhrul district headquarters, Dr Ratankumar stated that all Assembly segments are being equal attention regarding development programmes without any distinction between ruling or opposition members.

For 2012-13, PWD got Rs 120 crores as its share from SPA.

Out of this amount, Assembly segments of the valley districts have been allocated Rs one crore each while Assembly segments of hill districts have been allocated Rs 1.5 crore each for undertaking different development programmes.

Work programmes for 2012-13 includes repairing/construction of Phungyar block Hqs-Bungpa Khongjal-Kamjong Hqs road, 24 Kms long Awang Kasom-Chingai-Kuingai road, Huimi-Kachai-Leisan road under the Prime Minister's package.

DPRs for these works have been already sent to the centre, the Works Minister stated.

Plans are also afoot to construct a road from TNL ground to Kahumtang and BRTF office at the cost of Rs four crores from Central Road Fund (CRF).

At present, road construction work is going on from Nambisha to Khudengthabi which is 30 Kms long from Border Area Development Fund (BADF).

Earth work for construction of roads under SPA from Awang Kasom to Poi (estimated cost Rs 1.crore), Shingta to Shakok (Rs 1.5 crore), NH 150 to Mova Cave (Rs 1.5 crore) and NH 150 to Murei (Rs one crore) are going on, claimed the Works Minister.

At the same time, construction work of a guest house is going on at Siroy Hills at the cost of Rs 1.40 crores.

A bridge is also being constructed at the estimated cost of Rs three crores over Challow river between Chingai and Tousem.

Approval is being awaited for construction of a road from Kamjong to Maokot at the cost of rs eight crores, another road from Gemnom junction to Khayang via Chamu at the cost of Rs 2.80 crores and construction of an RCC bridge over Maklang river at the cost of Rs five crores.

Even as the Government intends to take many more development programmes, it is financial difficulties, Ratankumar.

Nevertheless, he assured to fulfil the aspirations of people as far as possible in consultation with the Chief Minister.
