Traffic norm for VVIPs' visit announced

In connection with the visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and other VVIPs on Dec 3, Manipur Police Department has announced specific traffic diversion and restrictions in Imphal.
A press release issued by Director General of Police, Government of Manipur mentioned that the regulation was adopted to provide smooth passage to the VVIPs and also to ensure minimum inconvenience to the public.
The statement informed that from 10:30 am and onwards, all vehicles coming from western side of Tiddim road, NH37 and Uripok Kangchup road towards the east shall be stopped/diverted at Toubungkhok Lamkhai and maharani bridge respectively.
Vehicles coming from the south of Mayai Lambi to the north shall be diverted towards Khagempalli and Pishumthong till VVIPs reaches City Convention Centre.
All vehicles will not be allowed to proceed towards Kangla beyond Singh & Co., Keishampat Junction, Maharani bridge junction, Samu Makhong, BT road, Khuyathong traffic point, Watham Leirak, MG avenue, MMTA crossing, Chingmeirong, Kabui village crossing and Palace compound crossing from 10:30 am and onwards.
From 11:00 am to 1:30 pm and onwards, vehicles shall not be allowed to proceed towards Kangla beyond Mantripukhri crossing and Sangakpham crossing.
They shall be diverted towards Laipham Khunou via Chingmeirong Kabui village crossing.
Officials vehicles shall be allowed to enter Babupara areas only from Singh & Co., side after showing their Identity cards, and visitors to these offices may park vehicles near Hicham Yaicham Pat area during 10:30 am and 11:30 am.
The statement further informed that all vehicles carrying peoples for the meeting and coming from western side of Sanjenthong will drop the public near Southern gate of Kangla and proceed Hapta Kangjeibung for parking till 10:00 am.
The vehicles carrying peoples to attend meeting and coming from eastern side of Sanjenthong shall drop the peoples near Palace Compound crossing and park at Hapta Kangjeibung and peoples are allowed to proceed Kangla on foot from there.
From 10:00 am onwards, all the vehicles carrying peoples coming to attend public meeting at Kangla shall be diverted to Hapta Kangjeibung at Singjamei traffic point via Thumbuthong bridges and also at Khabam Lamkhai and divert to Hapta Kangjeibung via Minuthong and Lamlong.
The movement of public towards Southern gate of Kangla from the Palace Compound crossing will be stopped from 10:40 am till VVIPs reaches new ISBT complex of Khuman Lampak.
Movement of public and vehicles will resume after VVIP's arrival at new ISBT.
Henceforth, the vehicles coming from eastern side of Sanjenthong will be diverted at GPO junction towards Yaishkul until VVIPs reaches the Airport.
The release further informed that people coming to attend the meeting at Kangla will be allowed entry only from the Southern gate of Kangla.
The statement also requested the public not to carry Mobile phones, handbags, matches, umbrella, water bottles, firecrackers and any type of weapons/inflammable articles while coming to attend the meeting at Kangla.
Lockers and safe custody for the above items will not be provided and any person possessing any of the items shall not be allowed to enter Kangla, added the release.
