Book released

The British colonial record of Kuki Uprising, locally known as 'Kuki War of Independence 1917-1919' was released in a book form today at Kuki Inn, Imphal.
According to a statement, the document along with a preliminary comments from an insider's viewpoint was published under the title 'Colonisation, Identity and Search for Peace' by Dr Jangkholam Haokip with the permission of the British Library, London.
Thangkhosei Haokip, President of Kuki Inpi Manipur released the book and Rev D Jangkholam, the Chairman of Kuki Christian Leaders' Fellowship dedicated it.
Prof Lai Dena of Manipur University delivered a speech.
The author presented an overview of the book.
The book contains the plan of operations against the Kuki Tribes of Assam and Burma as it was called, the actual operations with the details of casualties and finally a preliminary comment from an insider's perspective is offered.
The document strengthens the foundation for the people's unity, reconstruction of their identity and search for peace in the region.
