Imphal, April 19 2016:
All Manipur Government Aided College Teachers' Association is set to launch different forms of agitation including tendering resignation enmasse if their service is not regularised at the earliest.
This was stated by association vice-president Dr M Shomorendro while speaking to reporters on the sideline of a sit-in-protest staged at Keishampat Leimajam Leikai community hall today.
Biramangol College, Thambal Marik College, Liberal College, Kakching Khunou College, Mayai Lambi College and Standard College were established between 1973 and 1980 under Societies Registration Act, 1860 with an aim to provide higher education to the students of the State, he said.
Saying that these colleges are affiliated to Manipur University, Shomorendra said that the State Government has left the teaching and non-teaching staff of these colleges in the lurch although they have been working with dedication there since the past 35-40 years.
Although, the Chief Minister and Education Minister had repeatedly assured to look into the grievances of the teachers on different occasions, the Government is yet to fill up the vacant posts, increase DA, implement the 6th Pay Commission recommendations, introduce pension scheme and protect their service, he said.
