Imphal / Kpi, July 05 2016:
A senior cadre of United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF), a tripartite SoO signatory armed outfit under UPF, has reportedly gone missing from Indo-Myanmar town, Moreh in Chandel district since Saturday.
The missing UKLF cadre has been identified as SS Capt Jamkholal Zou alias George (39) of Kholim village near Sugnu.
Family members lost contact with him since last Sunday.
A public meeting was held in connection with the incident yesterday at the office of Hill Tribal Council (HTC), Moreh.
Search for the missing man was launched by public of Moreh after learning that Jamkholal was allegedly taken by a team of KNO cadres from the border town.
However, the man could not be traced.
It may be mentioned that Yamthang Zou, father of Jamkholal Zou was shot dead by suspected KNA cadres in 2006.Meanwhile, alleging that Jamkholal Zou was killed by cadres of KNO, the United Peoples' Front (UPF), one of the umbrella groups of Kuki UGs which recently entered into a political dialogue with the Centre and State Government sought the intervention of the Govt in the matter.
Strongly decrying the killing of M Jamkholal Zou, UPF information and publicity secretary, Thanglenlal Doungel said Jamkholal was killed by cadres of KNO/KNA while on his way to Moreh on an important family matter and his lifeless body was reportedly thrown away in Menal River and is yet to be traced.
Thanglenlal Doungel said that the mindless act of KNO/KNA cadres is very unfortunate and insignificant at this juncture when political dialogue between the two conglomerates of the Kuki UGs and the Governments has just started.
Thanglenlal recalled that on October 24, 2015 a traditional "Reconciliation Ceremony" was organized for the UPF/UKLF and KNO/KNA in the presence of KIM, KCA, KSO, MLA, and Minister where both parties compromised their past misunderstanding and pledged to live on peacefully which was administered by a Reverend who also invoked blessing prayer.
Strongly condemning the killing of UKLF cadre even after such reconciliation feast known to the world, UPF asked as to why and how the KNO/KNA could go against the pledge taken on the reconciliation feast acknowledged by the traditional body KIM and other civil bodies including a respected Church leaders.
The UPF stated that it will no more tolerate such factional killing among the SoO groups of Kuki UGs in future while holding the Government responsible for any untoward incident if it fails to solve the issue.
