14 deaths, record single day spike of 767 cases reported

Imphal, May 23 2021:
Even as 609 persons recovered from COVID-19, Manipur reported a record 767 new cases, ten more than yesterday.
Notably, 757 new cases were reported as the highest single day spike yesterday.
The 767 cases were found positive for COVID-19 when testing a total of 3,609 samples.
This implies that as many as 21.25 percent of the total people tested have been found infected.
As per a report of the COVID-19 Common Control Room today, the State also recorded 14 deaths in the last 24 hours taking the toll to 688 .
The total number of cases has reached 44,089 including 6,534 active cases.
The recovery rate stands at 83.61 per cent.
So far, 3,45,615 persons have been vaccinated against COVID-19 .
Meanwhile, the 767 new cases, all from the general population, include 398 males and 369 females.
They tested positive for COVID-19 at testing facilities opened at private hospitals (309), District Hospitals (273), RIMS (94) and JNIMS (91) .
Imphal West district reported the most cases with 320 new infections followed by Imphal East (182), Churachandpur (71), Thoubal (50), Kakching (44), Bishnupur (38), Ukhrul (17), Senapati (13), Tamenglong (9), Kangpokpi (9), Jiribam (5), Chandel (4), Kamjong (3) and Noney (2) .
Imphal West also accounted for 6 of the 14 deaths reported today.
Imphal East reported 3 deaths followed by Churachandpur with 2 cases.
Thoubal, Kakching and Bishnupur also reported one casualty each.
The six victims from Imphal West were women aged 55, 57 and 60 years and men aged 64, 69 and 71 years.
The victims from Imphal East include a woman aged 73 and two men aged 60 and 63 years.
The two victims from Churachandpur were two men aged 57 and 65.The victims from Thoubal, Kakching and Bishnupur were all female aged 43, 65 and 55 years.
The 14 persons died at JNIMS (5), RIMS (4), District Hospital Churachandpur (2), Shija Hospital (2) and District Hospital Thoubal (1) .
On the other hand, the 609 persons, who have recovered from Covid include 466 persons, who were under home isolation.
The remaining have been discharged from Covid Care Centres opened at CAPF (42), Lamboikhongnangkhong (19), SHRI (15), BB (10), RIMS (8), Thoubal (8), NSU (7), LANVA (5), JNIMS (4), Churachandpur (4), RD Wing (3), Bishnupur (3), Ukhrul (3), Senapati (3), Tamenglong (3), Jiribam (2), Jivan Hospital (2), Kakching (1) and Chandel (1) .
The cumulative number of Covid positive cases is 44,089 (general population-40,370 and Central security personnel-3,719) .
The cumulative number of recovered cases is 36,867 (general population-33,235 and Central security personnel-3,632) .
The number of active cases is 6,534 (general population-6,452 and Central security personnel-82).The COVID-19 Common Control Room in its report has also directed air passengers, who arrived at Imphal on May 21 by Indigo 6E-6358 in rows 25-31 to inform the common control room at 1800-345-3818 or respective District Surveillance Officers for necessary testing.
In the last 24 hours, a total of D-type oxygen cylinders and 542 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different healthcare institutions in Manipur, said the report.
