Vaccine likely to arrive in Jan, positive cases rise by 119

With no report of COVID-19 related deaths during the last 24 hours, the official death toll stands static at 322 but 119 fresh positive cases were detected during the same period.
Meanwhile, the State Government has prepared depositories for COVID-19 vaccine which is likely to arrive in the State in January.
A high ranking official of Health Department informed that the vaccine would be stored at 126 places which have cold chain facilities.
Even though the Central Government has not yet named the vaccine which would be first administered to health workers, the official informed that the vaccine would be brought to the State by cargo plane.
In the first phase, 41,000 health workers of 138 Government health facilities and 108 private health facilities would be administered COVID-19 vaccine.
Apart from doctors and nurses, police personnel and ASHA workers who have been working in the forefront in the battle against COVID-19 would be covered in the first phase of vaccination, said the official.
Health professionals of Central armed forces posted in the State would not be covered in the first phase of vaccination.
The official death toll still has not included the death of an army Colonel, a 42-year old man from Imphal West and a 76-year old woman who expired at Shija Hospital on December 10 .
The official death toll is 322 .
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 117 civilians and two personnel of CAPF tested positive for the virus during the last 24 hours at JNIMS (57), RIMS (16), Imphal East (3), Imphal West (4), Acme Hospital (1), Escent Diagnostics (2), Shija Hospital (9), Raj Medicity (4), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (12), Senapati (1), Churachandpur (3), Kamjong (2), Chandel (2) and Babina Diagnostics (2) .
The civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (37), Imphal East (53), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (15), Tengnoupal (1), Chandel (2), Senapati (1), Churachandpur (3) and Kamjong (2) .
All of them are locals who do not have any significant travel history.
On the other hand, 102 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 24 hours from CAPF (1), home isolation (68), RIMS (7), JNIMS (5), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (2), CCC UNACCO (7), RD Wing (3), Raj Medicity (2), Bal Bhavan (1), Tamenglong (1), Moreh (2), Kangpokpi (1) and Jiribam (2) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 27,155 (general population 23,851 and Central security personnel 3,304) .
It includes 3,074 active cases (general population 2,710 and Central security personnel 364) and 23,759 discharged cases (general population 20,823 and Central security personnel 2,936) .
The recovery rate stands at 87.49 per cent.
