Death toll spikes by 10, positive cases by 575 in last 48 hours

The State's COVID-19 death toll surged by 10 to reach 415 during the last 48 hours while 575 fresh positive cases were detected during the same period.
According to daily bulletins issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, 10 persons aged 80 (male, Bishnupur), 35 (male, Imphal East), 58 (male, CAPF, Imphal West), 79 (female, Imphal West), 32 (male, Imphal West), 71 (female, Imphal West), 55 (male, Imphal East), 50 (female, Imphal East), 80 (male, Kakching) and 26 (male, Churachandpur) succumbed to COVID-19 at Shija Hospital, RIMS, JNIMS and Raj Medicity during the last 48 hours.
In the meantime, 575 people including 21 personnel of CAPF were tested positive for the contagion.
The 554 civilians who have been tested positive are residents of Imphal West (232), Imphal East (147), Thoubal (24), Bishnupur (41), Kakching (36), Ukhrul (13), Senapati (15), Churachandpur (22), Chandel (5), Kangpokpi (10), Tamenglong (1), Tengnoupal (1), Noney (4), Kamjong (1) and Jiribam (2) .
Following recovery, 159 COVID-19 positive people were discharged during the last 48 hours from home isolation (135), RIMS (3), JNIMS (5), RD Wing (2), CAPF (1) and Shija Hospital (13) .
The cumulative number of positive cases is 32,161 (general population 28,576 and Central security personnel 3,585) .
This figure includes 1823 active cases (general population 1695 and Central security personnel 128) and 29,923 recovered cases (general population 26,471 and Central security personnel 3,452) .
Air passengers who came to the State on April 25 by Indigo flight 6E-6181 in rows 16-21and 6E-21 in rows 29-35 have been informed to report to the COVID-19 Common Control Room on 18003453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers immediately.
Even though 19 air passengers were tested for COVID-19 on arrival at Imphal airport on May 1 and 18 others today, none of them were found positive.
The cumulative number of air passengers tested at Imphal airport is 4,433 and 98 of them were found positive.
As per latest information provided by the COVID-19 Common Control Room, 2,07,765 people have been vaccinated against the virus in the State.
All persons above 45 years have been advised to get vaccinated immediately at vaccination centres of RIMS, JNIMS, district hospitals, CHCs, PHCs and select private hospitals.
