Impetus for Moreh composite check post

Imphal, July 04: Demonstrating the keenness of the State Government to the setting up of the Composite Check Post at Moreh, which is to be fully funded by the Centre, Chief Minister O Ibobi today convened a meeting to discuss the matter as well as to acquire the land needed for the same.

Speaking to The Sangai Express today, Principal Secretary of the Commerce and Industries Department, PC Lawmkunga said that a meeting in connection with the setting up of the Composite Check Post was held today with the Chief Minister in the chair at 11 am.

Besides him, Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh and the Principal Secretary of the Planning Dept were present, he added.

The officer further said that a detailed project report for the same has been submitted to the Union Home Ministry after a joint inspection conducted by the Rail India Technology and Economic Services and the State Government and added that the State Revenue Department as well as the Commerce and Industries Department are working out the final details to acquire the needed plot of land.

The Composite Post will bring under its roof different units such as Customs, Taxation, Forest, Immigration, Warehouse, Bank counters, Telecommunications, Rest House, Conference hall, Health Check Up, Internet complex etc.

Moreh is one amongst the three centres earmarked for landcustoms along the international boundary in accordance with the decision of the Home Ministry.
