Phungyar AC MLA reaches out with PMGAY rice

Ukhrul, April 21 2020: MLA of Phungyar AC Leishiyo Keishing today personally transported the Prime Minister Garib Anna Yojana (PMGAY) rice and relief items for free distribution in the remote villages under Kamjong district to ensure that the food grains are fairly given to every individuals & households as per the guidelines.

Amid the ongoing Covid-19 lockdown the MLA travelled to far flung villages to monitor the distribution and interacted with the villagers, during which he asked whether they have received all the benefits provided by the Government.

According to Leishiyo Keishing, around 2000 quintals of rice would be distributed under PMGAY free of cost to all the beneficiaries.

He further informed that if there is any person or family left out in the distribution due to shortage of supply, the village authority must report to him immediately, and he will supplement them with OMSS rice free of cost.

The MLA also assured Changa villagers that he will repair the village market shed at the earliest.

Leishiyo said over 900 quintals of rice have been kept reserved in case of any shortage of foodgrains to meet the requirements of the district.

Before the start of PMGAY rice distribution, SDO HL Jain said that the beneficiary list was based on the NFSA beneficiaries list of every village, and added that every children above five years would be provided free five kg of rice.

The MLA while speaking at the distribution function stressed that every person would get their due share.

"One should not worry for foodgrains," said the MLA and added that he will personally arrange to provide essential commodities at the district during the lockdown period.

Showcasing his personal involvement, the MLA along with his people distributed dal, sugar, salt, face mask, gloves.

Later, he visited the CHC centre at Kamjong and distributed infrared red thermometer and PPE kits donated by Mathanmi Hungyo, Director of RREA, Kamjong.

The MLA asked the medical officers to reactivate the Covid-19 screening centre at Ramphoi village as cross border movement is very common at the said place.
