MRA inaugurates permanent shooting range

The new permanent shooting range of Manipur Rifle Association (MRA) at Lamshang Taothong was inaugurated by Imphal West district magistrate Thokchom Kirankumar on Saturday.
Speaking on the occasion, Imphal West DM Th Kirankumar hoped that the new shooting range will help in fulfilling the dreams of state shooters.
He also exhorted the shooters to maintain discipline and learn from their coaches and become world-renowned shooters.
On the other hand, MRA secretary N Rajendra stated that the Association had for a long time working to establish its own shooting range and was elated that the day had finally come.
He informed that the work for the construction of the range started in 2013-14 and with contributions from its members, donations from well-wishers and fund drives organised by it.
Mentioning that the Association had been training its players by renting the shooting range at Khuman Lampak by paying YAS Department Rs 4000 per month, Rajendra said that with the opening of new range, the inconveniences faced by the players would be addressed.
He continued that while the new range is not ful ly equipped with modern training equipment, the MRA will work to add world-class equipment to the shooting range from time to time in the future and to produce national and international level shooters under the supervision of head coach Tomba.
Rajendra went on to say that all of this is possible provided the government and sports lovers support the Association.
MRA president Moirangthem Rachandra, Sports Movement Committee Manipur convener RK Ranendrajit, Lamshang Football Club Tao-thong president Sandham Loken, and Manipur Amateur Karate-Do Association president Thangjam Kirankumar also attended the event as president and guests of honour, respectively.
