Moreh karate-do team to compete at 8th International Karate Cship in Kolkata

Imphal, July 25 2024: A Moreh karate-do team left Imphal on Thursday for Kolkata to compete in the 8th International Karate Championship, which will be held from July 26 to 28, 2024 at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata.

The Moreh karate-do team members are drawn from young athletes who are currently staying at various relief camps at Akampat, Urup Arapti, Kakching High School, Wangjing Lamding High School and Wangkhei High School.

The team consists of four boys and three girls, with coaches Aram-bam Greatson Meitei and Md Auirkhan.

Prior to their departure, Moreh karate-do coach Arambam Greatson Meitei told the media that his team was able to take part in the championship courtesy of financial support from Meetei Council Moreh, Meira Paibis and civil organisations.

He added the Moreh karate-do was founded on July 19, 2018, with the goal of preventing youngsters from drug abuse.
