HU, UESPM emerge YRM hockey tourney champs

Imphal, January 19 2025: HU (Lairikyengbam Leikai) and UESPM (Tharoijam) emerged as champions of the 12th Yumnam Rashmani Memorial Invitation U-15 Boys' and Women's Open 7-A-Side Hockey Tournament 2024-25, organised by YCCIC, Kontha Ahallup, Imphal East.

In the U-15 boys' final, HU secured a commanding 12-7 victory over MEIRAA (Bashi-khong).

Maibam Manimatum led HU's scoring efforts with four goals, supported by Waribam Derris and Saikhom Nishi, who each contributed three goals, while Waribam Vishal added another to seal the win.

For MEIRAA, Wahengbam Paikhomba Luwang netted three goals, with Ningombam Gerik Singh scoring twice, and Kshetrimayum Amarjit and Ningombam Mahesh adding one goal apiece.

In the women's final, UESPM claimed the title with a decisive 4-1 win against MEIRAA.

Suman's two goals and one each from Lily and Soniya wrapped up the victory, while Kh Lanleibi scored the lone goal for MEIRAA.

Individual honours were also awarded.

HU's Konsam Mahendrajit received the best goalkeeper award, while Derish was named best defender.

YCClC's S Josh was recognised as the most promising player in the boys' category.

In the women's category, MEIRAA's T Ayingbi won best goalkeeper title, UESPM's Pinky was awarded best defender award, and TWC's Lamnganbi was honoured as the most promising player.
