SCCC, REYS ease to victories in 9th MNCA Elite Tournament

Saturday's fixtures in the 9th MNCA Elite Tournament 2024-25 saw dominant performances from SCCC and REYS, who clinched decisive victories in their respective league matches.
While SCCC overpowered CRAU by 38 runs at Moijing Public Ground, REYS edged past ESU by 28 runs in a tense clash at Model Hr Secondary & Oriental College Ground.
Electing to bat first, SCCC posted a formidable 242/7 in their 40 overs, powered by a masterful century from Ulenyai Khwairakpam.
The opener remained unbeaten on 112 off 109 balls, anchoring the innings with flair.
He received strong support from Laishram Ronson (56) and Bi-kash (42), who combined for a vital 98-run partnership.
CRAU's bowlers struggled for breakthroughs, with Bm Sabakhan, Lamabam Ajay, Ayekpam Rakesh, and Lamabam Jotin claiming a wicket apiece.
In reply, CRAU's chase faltered despite gritty efforts from Johny Kh (41) and Sanatomba K, who resisted SCCC's disciplined attack.
Rakeshwor Republic Hidangmayum (3/32) and Lishan Meitei Khaidem (3) starred with the ball, ably supported by Bikash (2) and Moirangthem Thomas (1) .
CRAU were eventually bundled out for 204 in 37.4 overs, handing SCCC a comprehensive win.
In a low-scoring affair at Model Hr Secondary & Oriental College Ground, REYS showcased their bowling prowess to defend a meagre 140 .
After being skittled for 140 in 37.5 overs, REYS relied on KKV Mustaque's gritty 45 and cameos from Jaali Ahmed Chisti (19) and Kiran Laishram (15) .
ESU's Hanjabam Naoba Sharma impressed with a five-wicket haul (5), supported by Chitaranjan Sharma (2).ESU's chase never gained momentum as Kiran Laishram (3) and Sapam Bikash (2) ripped through the top order.
Md Basir Rahman (2) and KKV Mustaque (1) compounded ESU's misery, limiting them to 112 all out in 33 overs.
Despite flashes of resistance, ESU fell 28 runs short, handing REYS a hard-fought triumph.
