2nd Manipur Yogasana Championship & selection trial held

The 2nd Manipur Yogasana Championship and selection trial for the 37th National Yogasana Championship was held on Saturday at Kangabam Yumjao Lairembi Multipurpose Community Hall, Imphal, with 90 athletes competing across multiple categories.
Winners will represent the state at the national event in Nagpur, Maharashtra, from August 29 to 31, 2025.In the traditional yogasana category, the Novices (Boys, 6-10 years) titles went to Maimom Yaingamba and Meiteikanba Paonam, while in the girls' section, Nancy Thokchom took first place ahead of Phamdom Debaya Chanu, Lanchenbi Oinam and Lanelina Pukhrambam.
Among the Sub-Juniors (Boys, 10-14 years), Sapam Rock emerged champion, followed by Waikhom Rajesh, Gelin Laishram, Ningombam Malemsana and Naorem Pari Singh.
The Sub-Junior Girls' event was topped by Kshetrimayum Lucia, with Thingujam Hiyanu Kuman, Thadoi Ahongsangbam, Pihu Thokchom and Ningthoujam Prachee Devi completing the top five.
In the Junior Boys' category (14-18 years), Thoudam Raju Meitei claimed gold, followed by Nongthombam Deeru, Hijam Lanchenba and Kolom Yaikhomba Khuman, while Wangkhem Silvia Devi was the sole winner in the Junior Girls' section.
In Youth Boys (18-23 years), Sapam Rishikumar finished first ahead of Moirangthem Robinson Singh, and in Youth Girls, Andee Devi Ningombam secured the title with Angom Susmilia, Mayanglambam Rojipriya Devi, Kshetrimayum Roshini Devi and Oinam Ninneeta taking the remaining positions.
The Senior A Men's (23-30 years) category was won by Longjam Anilkumar Singh, with Salam Philip as runner-up.
In Senior A Women, Ningthoujam Thajamanbi Devi triumphed over Wahengbam Ronibala Devi.
Senior B Men's (30-40 years) honours went to Moirangthem Nipamacha Singh and Thingbaijam Bidyasagar Singh, while in Senior B Women, Ngangbam Deviyarani claimed first place ahead of Pungsumbam Sonia Devi and Maharabam Binata Devi.
In the masters' event, Ningthoujam Bheigyachan-dra Singh won Masters I Men (40-50 years), and Ayekpam Bedashastri Devi topped the Masters I Women field, followed by Soibam Mema Devi, Sapam Chaoba Devi, Laishram Kabilata Devi and Soibam Usarani Devi.
Masters II Men (50-65 years) was headed by Wahengbam Priyokumar Singh, with Elangbam Suvash Singh and Nongthombam Joy Singh behind him, while Masters II Women was led by Maibam Sanahanbi Devi, followed by Mangsidam Shatyabati Devi, Elangbam Brojeswori Devi, Sagolsem Ganga Devi and Wangkhem Dani Devi.
In Masters III Men (65+ years), Sougrakpam Ratankumar Singh took gold, ahead of Ninthoujam Jit Singh, Huidrom Angou Singh and Ningombam Sureshwar, and in Masters III Women, Konjembam Leimatombi Devi claimed first place, followed by Leimapokpam Suniti Devi, Khwairakpam Memcha Devi, Khaidem Pramodini Devi and Ningthoujam Toleima Devi.
In rhythmic yoga, Sapam Rock won the Boys' 10-14 years event, while Thingujam Hiyanu Kuman and Thadoi Ahongshangbam took first and second place respectively in the Girls' 10-14 years category.
In the women's events, Ningthoujam Thajamanbi Devi claimed the 23-30 years title, and Ngangbam Deviyarani Devi topped the 30-40 years section.
