World Pro FC clinch State-Level 9-A-Side Football Tournament title

Imphal, July 09 2025: The State-Level 9-A-Side Men's Knockout Open Football Tournament, organised by Khelo Bharat, ABVP Manipur State, concluded on Wednesday at IRI Turf Ground, Maibam Leikai Heinoukhongnembi, Imphal West.

Held in celebration of National Students' Day, the two-day tournament saw the participation of 16 teams from across the state.

World Pro FC (Lilong) clinched the championship title after defeating Pan-thoibi FC (Langthabal) with a 2-0 victory in the final.

Jajo Prashan of Panthoibi FC was named best player of the tournament.

The closing ceremony was attended by dignitaries, including Sagolsem James Singh, former Indian professional footballer and technical director of Poloi Football Club (chief guest); Kamlesh Singh, ABVP national secretary; Dr Laishram Santosh Singh, Khelo Bharat state in-charge; and Prof Premlata Meisnam, ABVP Manipur state president.

In his address, Kamlesh Singh underscored the role of Khelo Bharat in nurturing youth leadership through sport.

Dr Santosh Singh highlighted football's social impact in Manipur, while James Singh encouraged players to aspire for international careers.

Prof Meisnam linked the spirit of sports to the national development vision, Viksit Bharat 2047 .
