Lanchenba sets NR; Sub-Jr team wins 7 medals

Imphal, August 04 2025:
Laitonjam Lanchenba Meitei added one more gold medal to his medal tally, while also setting a National Record (NR) on the second day of the 51st Junior National Aquatic Championship 2025 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
On Monday, Lanchenba won the 100 metre butterfly with NR of 57.06 seconds.
With this win, he has bagged three gold medals having also wrested two gold in 200 metre individual medley and 50 metre breaststroke.

Meanwhile, state swimmers won seven medals including three gold and four silver on the opening day of the Sub-Junior National Swimming Championship 2025 in Bengaluru, Karnataka on Monday.
The medal winners are K Athoiba gold medal in 200 metre freestyle;

Hemanshu gold and Athoiba silver in 200 metre individual medley; M Arindam gold medal and S Peterson silver in the 100 metre breaststroke; and K Athoiba gold and L Punghen silver medal in 100 metre butterfly.
Athoiba, Mangalsana, Peterson and Punghen combined to secure the silver medal in 4X50 freestyle relay.
The Manipur team is being led by Kh Jekel Singh as coach and manager.
