Endeavour FC win 7th VSO Trophy after penalty thriller

Thoubal, August 02 2025: Endeavour FC Wangjing lifted the 7th VSO Trophy after edging past Bolero FC Singjamei 7-6 in a penalty shootout at Tekcham High School Ground on Saturday.

The final ended 2-2 at full time.

As champions, Endeavour FC received Rs 1 lakh, 20 footballs, and the winners' trophy.

Runners-up Bolero FC were awarded Rs 80,000 and a set of footballs.

The tournament, which began in April 2023, was halted following the May 3, 2023 violence.

It resumed in July 2025, with the final marking the culmination of the delayed event.

In the final, Bolero FC took the lead in the 14th minute through Taj Eta (jersey no 10), before Tomba (no 14) equalised for Endeavour in the 17th.Taj Eta struck again in the 22nd minute, only for Engson (no.7) to level the score in the 41st.With no goals in the second half, the match went to penalties, where Endeavour FC prevailed 7-6 .

The closing ceremony was attended by Sama Devi, wife of Wangjing-Tentha MLA Paonam Brojen; Langpoklakpam Dameyenti Devi and Yumnam Landhoni Devi, chairpersons of Tekcham and Sapam GP Administrative Committees respectively; wing commander (Nagaland AV squadron NCC) Moirangthem Herojit Singh, and squadron leader (Manipur AV Squadron NCC) Mutum Sandeep Singh.

The tournament was organised by the Veteran Sports Organisation (VSO), Khongjom Circle, under the aegis of the All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) .
