Five players advance to State badminton semifinals

Imphal, July 27 2024:
Bidyasagar Salam (IWDBA), Oinam Aimson Singh (BDBA) and Rishav Ngangom (BDBA) made it to the men's singles semifinals, while Angita Naorem (IWDBA) and Leonie Tayenjam (IWDBA) progressed to the women's last four in the 68th State Open Badminton Championships 2024 on Saturday.
Bidyasagar Salam booked his place in the men's singles semifinals by producing a comfortable 21-5 21-15 win over Kshetrimayum Devajit (IWDBA) .
Oinam Aimson Singh, on the other hand, defeated TDBA's Leishangthem Unilkumar 21-15 21-18 on his way to the last four.
The day's other quarterfinal match saw Rishav Ngangom outplay IWDBA's Kasprov Ahanthem 21-18 21-9 to join Bidyasagar and Aimson in the semifinals.
In the women's singles competition, Angita Naorem had little trouble beating KDBA's Sagorika Naoram 21-4 21-8 in their quarterfinal encounter as Leonie Tayenjam outclassed BDBA's Khwairakpam Roshmi Devi 21-5 21-9 to secure her semifinal berth.
Also in girls' singles events, Laishram Anjelia (GS U17), Konsam Gunjan Devi (GS U17), Salam Lekina Devi (GS U13), Wangkheimayum Anjelina (GS U13), Sarungbam Archana Devi (GS U13) and K Sonakshi Sinha (GS U13) all prevailed in their respective matches to reach semifinals.
