Second Senapati District Veteran Football Tournament commences

Senapati, September 25 2024: The second edition of the Senapati District Veteran Football Tournament 2024 kicked off at Astro Turf Ground, Senapati on Wednesday.

The tournament is by the Senapati District Veteran Football Association in collaboration with the Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM), and sponsored by Dynamic Longevity, Nivia, and Lloyd.

Established in 2023 under the theme "Aging gracefully with good health," the Senapati District Veteran Football Association hosts this annual tournament to promote fitness and well-being among veterans in the district.

19 teams, divided into 4 pools, from across the district are participating in the tournament.

Pool A consists of Katomei Area Veteran FC, Vaki Veteran FC, Raimai Veteran FC, Khaomatei Veteran FC and Oklong Veteran FC.

Pool B consists of Taphou Veteran FC, Khyouchi Veteran FC, Tungjoy United Veteran FC, Arufii Veteran FC and Proumai Veteran FC.

Pool C consists of United Veteran FC Mao, Northern Maram Veteran FC, Karong Union Veteran FC, Makhrelui Veteran FC and Willong Veteran FC.

Pool D consists of Southern Naga Veteran FC, TNK Veteran FC, Heudu Veteran FC and Bluebird Veteran FC.

Each team follows specific age criteria: 4 players aged 40-45, 5 players aged 45-50, and 2 players aged 50 and above.

The tournament's inaugural ceremony was attended by Heshu Choro, president Senapati District Badminton Association (SDBA), who declared the tournament open after inspecting the teams in the first match.

According to the organising committee, 5 matches will be played daily till October 7 .
