Sixth edition of TAYSO Sports Meet kicks off in Senapati

Senapati, February 25 2025: The 6th edition of the Taphou Area Youth & Students Organization (TAYSO) Sports Meet kicked off on Tuesday at Senapati Astro Turf Ground.

Adahrii Maheo, CEO, ADC Senapati, inaugurated the event as chief guest, alongside dignitaries including H Timothy Maram, additional SP (operations), and Joram Koveo, president Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur (SDOAM) .

In his welcome address, RD Ismael, president TAYSO, highlighted the event's mission to bridge divides and strengthen bonds among youth across the Taphou area.

H Timothy Maram and Adahrii Maheo emphasised the role of sports in fostering unity, discipline, and excellence.

H Timothy contrasted historical sports (driven by prestige and dominance) with modern events aimed at harmony and camaraderie.

He highlighted the importance of physical well-being, avoiding intoxicants, and rigorous training, citing Michael Phelps' success as a model of discipline.

Maram noted that while regional athletes show potential, many falter due to inadequate discipline and health management.

He urged athletes to pursue financial opportunities in sports, respect fair play, and uphold decorum.

Adahrii, addressing the theme "Igniting Unity & Harmony through Sports," praised the TAYSO Sports Meet for uniting youth from 20 diverse villages in the Taphou area.

He stressed that participants act as ambassadors for their communities, promoting mutual support and peace.

Maheo encouraged adherence to rules, sportsmanship, and setting an example of hope for the Senapati district, where the Taphou area plays a significant role.

The tournament features 17 teams from 20 villages competing in football and volleyball, with the event scheduled to conclude on February 28, 2025 .
