29th State Youth Basketball Championships : Gison drops 36 as Model Club blast BDBA 70-56

Imphal, September 24 2026: Gison put on a shooting masterclass, exploding for a game-high 36 points to guide Model Club to a decisive 70-56 victory over BDBA in an exhilarating boys' Group A match of the 29th State Youth Basketball Championships this morning at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court.

Gison's offensive clinic-which featured a pair of crucial three-pointers (treys)-proved to be the difference maker as Model Club dominated the floor to secure the hard-fought win.

He was ably assisted by Sotin with 23 points including a triple as Lanchenba, Rahul and Yohenba contributed 5, 4 and 2 points respectively.

For BDBA, Shangkar led the way adding 20 points followed by Suryajit with 18 points as Sendick scored 8 points including two treys.

Malem and Maison scored 6 and 2 points respectively.

In the Group B match staged early this morning, YWC beat Youth Club 56-44 riding on leading performances from Chourajit (24 pts) and Malemnganba (20 pts) .

Nikhil (6 pts), Dhanajit (4 pts) and Kinos (2 pts) also scored for the winners.

Irabanta (21 pts) and Madrid (14 pts) meanwhile led the scoring for Youth Club as Tonshan scored 5 points.

Digvijay and Bigyans also scored 2 points apiece.

In another Group B match staged in the morning, YOSC beat UNACCO School by 38-22 points for the second straight win riding on leading scores from Kelvin (16 pts) and Lanchenba (10 pts) .

Bryon top-scored for UNACCO School with 10 points to his name.

Later in the day, CYLC ended their 2-game winless run by defeating St Anthony' School 23-17. ESU, YOSC girls extend winning runs

The day also saw ESU and YOSC girls seal their second wins later in the evening.

YOSC beat CYLC 41-35 riding on leading performances from A Angelina (18 pts) and K Tejasvi (12 pts) as Th Chaoba (5 pts), S Buney (4 pts) and Th Thoithoibi registered single digit scores.

A Rejina (14 pts), Julia N (13 pts), H Priyanka (4 pts) and N Martina (3 pts) meanwhile found their names on the scoresheet for CYLC .

ESU, meanwhile, extended their winning run by handing LMYVA a 42-14 defeat.

Katherin scored three trebles on the way to her masterclass finish of 23 points for ESU today as Nancy (6 pts), Odishika (5 pts), Babylia (4 pts) and Angelina (4 pts) contributed 19 points.

P Shreeya (6 pts), N Merinda (3 pts), S Priya Devi (3 pts) and M Minanda (2 pts) scored it for LMYVA today.
