IW league: YWC (M) third; BMSC escape relegation

Imphal, October 21 2024: YWC (Malom) secured 3rd place finish and BMSC, Tabungkhok escaped relegation with contrasting victories over their respective opponents in the 29th L Sangita Devi Memorial 1st Division Football League organised by Imphal West District Football Association.

In a Monday's match at PAMYAL Ground, YWC (M) defeated KAN, Kadangband 5-3 via the penalty shootout to finish third in the point standing.

A 12th minute goal by W Maipaksana provided KAN the lead before Kh Loyalakpa struck the equaliser for YWC in the 65th minute to take the match to the decisive penalty shootout as neither sides managed to score at the end normal period.

In the tie-breaker, Kh Loyalakpa, H Shitaljit, N Bidyachandra and K Billion of YWC (M) slotted past the rival custodian ensuring the third place finish in the league competition at 4-2 scoreline.

Meanwhile, in the relegation match, BMSC beat SCK, Kodompokpi 1-0 with W Anil netting the all-important goal in the 27th minute.

The win ensured BMSC remain in the 1st division league, and SCK's relegation to second division.
