17th Manipur State league : MPSC thump Milan FA 4-1, SFC edge KLASA 3-2

Imphal, March 21 2025: Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) notched up a 4-1 win over Milan FA, Keibi in a Group A match of the ongoing 17th Manipur State League as 10-man SFC, Tera beat KLASA, Keinou in a five-goal Group B thriller.

In the Group A match staged this early afternoon at Artificial Turf Ground, Lamlong Thongkhong, Akbar Khan scored twice to set up the 4-1 victory for MPSC .

MPSC got off to a rousing start and raced to a 3-0 as Akbar Khan (4'), Laishram Jeekop (18') and Elangbam Birendrakumar (45') were on target.

Milan FA pulled back a goal through Ningthoujam George at the stroke of the hour-mark but it proved to be the consolation goal as Akbar scored his second one minute into the injury time to seal the 4-1 win.

It was the fourth win for MPSC in as many as 7 matches and the result helped them rise to second place behind leaders UPAA, Kyamgei (15 points off 6 matches) .

Later in the second match, Thangjam Chinglemba made the difference as SFC overcame KLASA by 3-2 goals.

SFC entered into the break with a slender 1-0 lead thanks to Jims Raikhan's 21st minute strike before Naorem Klose doubled the advantage in the 52nd minute.

KLASA however clawed their way back into the game with Saikhom Avinash (61') and Taj Khan (68') scoring back to back.

SFC however retained the lead after 81 minutes with a clinical finish from Chinglemba and held off KLASA charges despite losing defender M Joyprakash after 88 minutes following a second yellow card booking.

With the fifth win in 7 matches, SFC go top on 16 points.
