Judo: Five gold medals propel Manipur to overall title

Imphal, January 20 2025:
Manipur were crowned overall team champions of the Sub-Junior and Cadets National Judo Championships 2024-25, held in Pune, Maharashtra.
The state team, comprising both boys and girls, rounded out their campaign with an impressive medal haul of five golds, one silver and three bronze medals, with Lanchenbi earning the best judoka title in the girls' event.
In the girls' competition, Thokchom Roshni Devi, Akham Chinglemnganbi Devi and Thokchom Lanchenbi Devi each won a gold medal in their respective categories.

Roshni claimed her yellow metal in the -40kg category, Chinglemnganbi was the winner in the -48kg category, and Lanchenbi secured the top honour in the -52kg category.
In addition to her gold medal, Lanchenbi was adjudged as the best judoka in the girls' event.
The boys' team also delivered commendable performances, with Th Vivek (-35kg) and M Surjit (50kg) clinching gold medals.
N Jayananda contributed a silver medal in the boys' -45kg category.
Additionally, Shagolsem Kananbal Devi (-44kg), Angom Linthoi Chanu (-57kg) and M Abijit (-40kg) bagged a bronze medal each.
The state team was led by coaches Th Arun and Ch Karishma, and manager Ch Tomba.
