THAU thump FORCE to clinch MNCA Women's U-23 Trophy title

THAU (Thangmeiband) secured a resounding 88-run victory over FORCE (Kshetrigao) in the final of the 1st MNCA Women's U-23 One Day Trophy at SEDOC Ground, Kongba Dhobi Lampak, on Saturday.
The win was built on a disciplined batting performance and a ruthless bowling effort that left FORCE struggling throughout their chase.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, THAU faced early setbacks but rallied to post 156/9 in 35 overs.
Konjengbam Nonibala Devi anchored the innings with an unbeaten 25 off 48 balls, including five boundaries, while Robeni Usham (17 off 22), Niruta Thoudam (16 off 17) and Thoithoibi Ahongshangbam (15 off 26) provided crucial cameos.
FORCE's bowlers, particularly Rahmatun Khanam (3/16) and Barkatun Khanam (2/44), kept the pressure on, but THAU's tail-ender Hijam Malemkhombi's unbeaten 11, ensured a defendable total.
In response, FORCE's batting lineup faltered from the outset, collapsing to 68/9.Thotiholbi Ahongshangbam was the chief destroyer, claiming 4/13 in her seven overs, including the key wickets of Barkatun Khanam and Rahmatun Khanam.
Seterny Devi Brahmacharimayum (2/2) and Sophiya Chanu Naoroibam (1/11) tightened the screws, leaving FORCE with no answers.
Only Barkatun Khanam (20) offered resistance as the team succumbed to THAU's relentless attack.
Among the individual prize winners were SHADOW's Pri-yanshee Hanglem (highest wicket-taker), Kebriya Devi Sapam (highest run-scorer), FORCE's Barkatun Khanam (player of the series), and THAU's Thoithoibi Ahong-shangbam (player of the final match) .
Champions THAU took home a prize money of Rs 50,000, while runners-up FORCE received Rs 30,000 .
