Zalengam FC win Maj Bob Khating Football Tournament

Senapati, January 15 2025:
The 3rd edition of the Maj Bob Khating Football Tournament, organised by the Indian Army from January 10 to 15, 2025, concluded with a grand closing ceremony at the Turf Football Ground in Senapati district on Wednesday.
The tournament was organised in memory of late Major Ralengnao 'Bob' Khathing, a Padma Shri recipient.
Born in Ukhrul, Major Khating is remembered for his immense contributions as an Indian soldier and civil servant, particularly for his role in bringing Tawang under the Indian Union.
The closing ceremony was attended by senior officers from the Indian Army, the deputy commissioner of Senapati, the superintendent of police, local dignitaries, and prominent members of the community.
Over six days, 16 teams competed in 15 high-energy football matches.
The final match, which saw intense competition, was won by Zalengam FC.
The ceremony also featured various cultural performances, including the Tangkhul cultural dance, Rongmei Naga dance, Thangal Naga dance, and a military band display.
The winners and run ners-up were felicitated for their outstanding performances.
The tournament was widely appreciated by the local population as it provided an opportunity for the youth and residents of Senapati district to showcase their skills and sporting talent.
