District Level Fencing C'ship begins

Imphal, June 10 2024: The 2nd District Level Fencing Championship 2024-25 organised by Imphal East District Fencing Association (IEDFA) began at Khuman Lampak Fencing Hall on Monday.

The championship is being participated by 90 male and 66 female fencers representing 10 units/clubs namely UPPA (Kiyamgei), SWC (Khongman), MIISIKHOL (Khurai), KHFA (Khongman Zone-4), OLA (Wangkhei-Kongba), YDO (Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai), POLOI (Chingarel Tejpur), KSDO (Kongpal Mayai Leikai), SA (Wangkhei-Kongba) and YWC (Wangkhei Thambalkhong).

The opening function of the championship was attended by YAS director T Phulen Meitei as chief guest and IEDFA ex vice-president A Tombi Sharma as president, while Manipur Fencing Association secretary H Hemjit Meetei, YAS senior FO N Parithoihen Meitei and IEDFA advisor L Birahari Meitei were guests of honours.

On the opening day, in foil event, Nora Leima N (KSDO) won gold medal in mini girls' competition, while Dorando Th (POLOI) took the gold in mini boys.

In epee competition, H Loyanganbi (MIISIKHOL) took the gold in mini girls and G Baniba (KSDO) won the gold in mini boys, while in Sabre event, Selina S (KHFA) clinched gold medal in mini girls and her teammate Richtopper N took the wrested victory in mini boys.

On the other hand, Thoihensana (KHFA) won the gold in sub-junior boys' foil event.

In epee event of sub-junior girls Piyanganbi (POLOI) took a gold, while in sabre event in the same category K Yaipharembi (MIISIKHOL) took home a gold medal.
