Ukhrul hosts 2nd bodybuilding, model physique competition

Ukhrul, August 09 2025: The 2nd edition of Mr Ukhrul Bodybuilding & Model Physique Competition was hosted at Ukhrul town hall on Saturday, showcasing an impressive display of strength, discipline, and aesthetic physique.

Organised by BBAUD in collaboration with the Healthy Circle Foundation, and under the aegis of the All Manipur Bodybuilding & Bodybuilding Association (AMBBA), the competition saw athletes compete across various categories.

The event was attended by ADGP Dr IK Muivah as chief guest, while TNAL president Kashung Tennyson was guest of honour and BBAUD president Thotmayo Luithui the functional president.

Inaugurating the competition, Dr Muivah articulated a vision for Ukhrul as a "health-conscious town, free from the grip of drugs and anti-social activities" .

He emphasised the crucial link between physical and mental well-being, stating, "A fit body nurtures a fit mind.

Seriousness is the key to success" .

A fitness enthusiast himself, Dr Muivah pledged departmental support for sports and fitness initiatives in the district.

BBAUD advisor L Robert Meitei also spoke about the dedicated efforts invested in establishing the competition.

He highlighted his personal motivation stemming from assistance received from a Tangkhul woman early in his career, inspiring him to give back to the Tangkhuls through promoting healthy lifestyles and fitness.

He also highlighted that the annual competitive event aims at promoting physical fitness and a healthy lifestyle, especially among local youth.

The highly anticipated competition witnessed fierce contests across all divisions.

In the Senior Men's Bodybuilding category, Wungreithei Lungharwo from Lunghar village secured the first place with an impressive display of strength and conditioning.

Mishap Khapai of Kazipphung followed closely in second, while Amung MK from Mailiang village claimed third.

In the Women's Model Physique category, Leishimi Rai-hing from Shangshak village took the top spot, showcasing elegance and poise.

Chingri Khapai of Kazipphung, Hungpung village finished in second place, with Phila Yangya of Paorei village securing third.

For the Men's Model Physique, Paotam Vashum from Razai village emerged victorious, demonstrating exceptional physique and stage presence.

Yursemngam Keistang from Pushing village claimed second place, followed by Ngashingpam Ragui of Tangrei village in third.

The Junior Men's Bodybuilding category, highlighting the future stars of the sport, was won by Worthan Lolunglo from Ramva village.

Bangkong Khanchui Ezekiel of Silent village secured second place, while Naoreithem Kha-pudang from Langli village came in third.

Apart from the competitive categories, special recognition was given to Paotam Vashum of Razai Khunou village, who received the 'Best Poser' award for his exemplary stage presentation.

Koveerngam CHINIR of Ramphoi village was honoured as the 'Best Entertainer of the Day' for his engaging performance.
