Imphal, October 05 2018: In an effort to encourage sports and identify talented sports persons, an inter school football tournament was organised at Ukhrul from October 2-3 as a collaborative effort between Ukhrul United Football Club and Assam Rifles, said a press release of IGAR (S).

The tournament saw enthusiastic participation with nine schools from Ukhrul participating in the tournament.

The tournament also provided a platform for greater interaction among the emerging players and for football clubs to nurture the hidden talents.

Seeing the overwhelming response of the schools and local participation, more such tournaments with participation across the district are being planned in the near future, the release continued.
