State eves off to flying start at Hockey India Jr Women's National Championship

Imphal, August 01 2025: Manipur made a resounding start to their campaign at the 15th Hockey India Junior Women's National Championship 2025 in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, thrashing Kerala 5-0 in a dominant display on Friday.

Laishram Ritu was the star of the match, netting a brilliant hat-trick to spearhead her side's commanding victory.

The scoring opened in the 9th minute when Mutum Priya put Manipur ahead with an early strike.

Leishangthem Natali Chanu then doubled the lead in the 20th minute, setting the tone for a one-sided affair.

However, it was Ritu who stole the show in the remaining minutes, delivering a devastating three-goal blitz in just 11 minutes.

She found the net in the 45th, 52nd, and 56th minutes, leaving Kerala with no chance of recovery as Manipur sealed an emphatic win in their campaign opener.

Manipur will next play Uttarakhand on Saturday, August 2, as they will look to maintain their momentum and secure another crucial win.
