Manipur drub West Bengal 3-0 to clinch Junior Boys' NFC title

Imphal, July 30 2025: Manipur claimed a resounding victory in the final of the Junior Boys' National Football Championship for Dr BC Roy Trophy 2025-26 (Tier 1), overpowering West Bengal 3-0 in a masterful performance at the GNDU Sports Complex in Amritsar on Tuesday.

From the outset, the Manipur side dictated the tempo, showcasing superior technical ability and tactical discipline.

Their dominance was rewarded with two first-half goals, effectively putting the game out of West Bengal's reach before sealing the triumph with a late third.

Lourembam Naocha Singh broke the deadlock in the 17th minute, firing Manipur into an early lead with a composed finish.

The momentum remained firmly with the state side as Ngayungmi Kashung added a second in the 37th minute, capitalising on a defensive lapse to double the advantage before half-time.

West Bengal, despite their best efforts, found it difficult to break down Manipur's resolute backline.

The introduction of fresh legs in the second half did little to alter the course of the match, as Manipur's well-organised defence stood firm against sporadic attacks.

The victory was emphatically sealed in stoppage time (90+2) when Amom Krish Singh slotted home a clinical third, sparking jubilant celebrations among the Manipur players.

Clad in their striking all red kit, the Manipur team delivered a performance of flair, discipline, and relentless energy, underlining their status as deserving champions.
