MU announces teams for All India Inter University Wrestling Tournaments

Imphal, October 29 2025: The Department of Sports, Manipur University has announced the men and women's wrestling teams for the All India Inter University Wrestling Tournaments 2025-26.The men's tournament is due to be hosted by Chandigarh University, Mohali from January 5 to 9 and the women's tournament will be hosted by University of Kota, Rajasthan from November 27 to 30.The wrestlers who have been announced in the teams based on their performances in the Inter College tournaments are as follows.

Greco Roman : Elangbam Hemba of Pole Star College (U-55 kg), Nameirakpam Napolian of MB College (U-60 kg), Sharungbam Brojendrokumar of Nambol L Sanoi College (U-63 kg), Saikhom Yaikhomba of Biramangol College (U-67 kg), Ngasepam Luken of Pole Star College (U-72 kg), Ningthoujam John of JCRE Global College (U-77 kg), Nongmaithem Tyson of Biramangol College (U-82 kg), and Nongmaithem Jamson of Biramangol College (U-87 kg) .

Reserve : L Kaiku of YK College (U-55 kg) and M Kamanjit of Regional College (U-60 kg) .

Men's Freestyle : Ali Hussain of Mayai Lambi College (U-57 kg), Irfan Alam Khan of MB College (U-61 kg), Thokchom Bheighachandra of Manipur University (U-65 kg), Bh Joyson of JCRE Global College (U-70 kg), Khundongbam Zenith of Thoubal College (U-86 kg), Ajit Kumar of Manipur University (U-92 kg), and Haobam Sellychand of Manipur University (U-97 kg).

Reserve : M Kaiku of JCRE Global College (U-57) and Kh Pamuba of YK College (U-61 kg) .

Women's Freestyle : Th Lingjelthoibi of Biramangol College (U-50 kg), N Chaoba Chanu of MB College (U-53 kg), Luwang Chanu Sophia of YK College (U-57 kg), Senjam Chaoba Chanu of Regional College (U-59 kg), and Elangbam Manorama of Imphal College (U-62 kg) .

The selected wrestlers were further told to report to the office of Assistant Director of Sports on November 4 by 11 am for further details and coaching.
