SWC-K emerge 18th DSA Trophy Football Tournament champions

Imphal, October 26 2024: Social Welfare Club, Keirak (SWC-K) defeated Social Welfare Club, Waikhong (SWC-W) by 3-1 goals on penalties after a 1-1 regulation time draw to seal the title of the 18th DSA Trophy Football Tournament organised by DSA Kakching at its playground.

It was a competitive encounter with both the sides starting cautiously but Th Yaiphaba put SWC-K ahead after 30 minutes through a beautiful finish.

SWC-W however fought back and pulled level four minutes into the added time of the first half (40+4') through H Boynao.

Despite efforts, neither side were able to break the parity in the later part of the regulation time and eventually the game was decided by penalty shoot-out wherein L Avinash, N Somokanta and B Rohit found the target for the Keirak side and only A Bishal scored it for SWC-W.SWC-K eventually walked away the title trophy and Rs 50,000 richer as SWC-W settled for runners up prize of Rs 30,000 .

SWC-W's Haobijam Tombi and Kh Joychandra were adjudged best player and best goalkeeper of the tournament as SWC-K's Keisham Dingkal, Mayengbam Shital and Kh Rajesh were declared man of the final match, best defender and best midfielders.

SWC-K's Th Yaiphaba and SWC-W's A Bishan were also declared as joint highest goal scorers.

They were feted with a cash prize of Rs 2,000 each.

Fair play team- YWU; best manager- SDO, Pallel's manager and best coach- H Chandrakumar of SWC-K were also feted with Rs 2,000 each.
