29th State Youth Basketball Championships : Satish, Thoungamba steer LMYVA to second straight win in boys' competition

Imphal, September 22 2026: Satish and Thoungamba shone yet again to guide LMYVA, Lalambung Makhong to second straight Group A win in the boys' competition of the 29th State Youth Basketball Championships being underway at Brahmapur Nahabam Basketball Court.

Having recorded a 54-38 win over Model Club yesterday, LMYVA carried forward their momentum to get the better of CYLC, Chingamathak by 47-21 points today.

Satish (14 pts) and Th Thoungamba (12 pts) led the scoring for the winners with double digit scores as Anderson (9 pts), Kh Chaoba (6 pts), Malemson (4 pts) and G Ronald (2 pts) made another bulk of 21 points to set up the comfortable win.

Korou meanwhile led the scoring for CYLC adding 6 points as Rex scored a trey on the way to his 5-point finish.

Algison and Einstein on the other hand scored 4 points apiece for the team as Jospin made 2 .

Later in a Group B encounter, UNACCO School, Meitram pulled off a 38-30 win over Youth Club, Uripok to open their campaign in style.

Bryan Longjam and Lebronson scored 10 points apiece in UNACCO School's victory today as N Alex scored 9 points.

Dembajeet (5 pts) and Yoihenba (4 pts) also added another 9 points together to make up 38 points for the team.

For Youth Club, Bigyan scored the highest 11 points courtesy of two triples as Tonshana scored 10, Irabanta scored 7 and Madrid made 2 .

Model Club, YOSC too win

The day also saw Model Club bounce back with a 46-23 win over St Anthony's School, Imphal after opening game (Group A) setback.

Lanchenba took centre-stage scoring match high 23 points off 2 treys while Gison followed with 11 points.

Meanwhile, Yohenba, Angamba and Chingsubamba all scored 4 points apiece to clinch the 46-23 win.

For St Anthony's School, Dhanakumar (9 pts) and Ngarakzak (7 pts) led the scoring as Slicktice, Vasco Laiphrakpam and Lerbung scored 2 points apiece.

Widonsubou also scored a free throw for the team.

YOSC, Khurai, on the other hand, opened off their Group B campaign with a huge 57-30 win over YWC, Malom.

Lourembam Kelvin shone with a 22-point finish for the winners as Pukhrambam Harish scored 4 treys on the way to his 18-point finish.

Lanchenba Leimapokpam (8 pts), Phirepa Mayanglambam (5 pts) and Ngangbam Ricky (4 pts) were also on target for YOSC .

Kangjam Chourjit, meanwhile, top-scored for YWC with 10 points as Malemnganba scored 8 points including 2 triples, Laishram Nikhil and Langoljam Dhanajit added 4 points apiece and Biraj Ningthoujam and Kinois Khoisnam scored 2 points apiece.

Katherine dazzles in ESU girls' 38-8 win

In the girls' opening match staged later in the day, ESU, Wangkhei kicked off their campaign with a commanding 38-8 win over NETA, Kangla Sangomsang riding on Katherine's sizzling 23-point finish.

Katherine displayed a sublime performance to score 5 treys on the way to her 23-point finish.

Angelina (7 pts), Babylia (6 pts) and Nancy (2 pts) were also on target in ESU's big win today.

Ch Abembem, meanwhile, played lone hand to score all 8 points for NETA .
