Shannon-Devasis clinch National U-11 badminton doubles title

Imphal, December 11 2025: Manipur's Shannon Loitongbam and Devasis Singh Nameirakpam clinched the doubles title of the Yonex-Sunrise 4th Mini (0-11) National Badminton Championships 2025 today.

The talented and promising duo clinched the coveted title, beating Tamil Nadu pair of Nirav Hariharan and Pranav SV at Vadodara, Gujarat.

In beating the formidable Tamil Nadu 21-18, 21-14, the Manipur pair displayed superior skills, coordination, and composure under pressure.

Shannon and Devasis beat Rudra Harish Manohar and Vedant Bharat Bhusan More 21-13, 21-13 in the semi-final.

The duo beat Agastya A and Tharun Chandramohan 21-16, 21-8 in the quarterfinals.

The Manipur State Badminton Association (MSBA) has meanwhile congratulated Shannon Loitongbam and Devasis Singh Nameirakpam for the historic feat.

"This is a momentous day for Manipur badminton.

Shannon Loitongbam and Devasis Singh Nameirakpam have brought immense pride to the State with their exceptional performance and dedication.

Their victory at the National level is a testament to the hard work they have put in.

I congratulate both players on this outstanding achievement," said MSBA president Thongam Biswajit.

"The MSBA also takes this opportunity to acknowledge the vital role played by the entire support system in shaping this success.

The association offers its sincere appreciation for the dedicated efforts of their coaches, Heikrujam Yaiphaba Singh and Yumlembam Dhanabati Chanu, whose guidance and training have been crucial," Biswajit said.

This victory is a shining example of the talent pool in Manipur and is expected to inspire many more young athletes across the State to take up the sport, he added.
