U-23 cricket: RULE, ESU, YWC prevail

Imphal, June 10 2024:
RULE, Meitram; ESU, Wangkhei; and YWC, Langthabal eased past their respective opponents in league matches of the 1st MNCA Men's U-23 Haobam Biramangol Singh Memorial Tournament 2023-24 on Monday.
At Public Ground, Khangabok Part-III Cherapur, RULE trounced KSDO, Kiyamgei by 7 wickets riding on the all-round performance by Jay Singh who took two wickets and scored 61 runs.
KSDO batters could only score 126 in 33.5 overs as RULE bowlers led by Sanjenbam Ananda Singh and Boocker Kangjam claimed three wickets each as Jay Singh, Rojit Singh Angomcha and Sanjembam Somokanta Khuman accounted for one each KSDO wicket.
In another match at Model Higher Secondary & Oriental College Ground, ESU defeated PTRC, Patsoi Part IV by 5 wickets.
Bowling pair of Bishomcha Khundrakpam (5 wickets) and Hanjabam Naoba Sharma (4 wickets) ripped through the PTRC side which managed only 62 in 20 overs.
Laitonjam James Singh (30 runs) and captain Jotin Singh Pheiroijam (17) were the only notable contributors for PTRC.
In reply, ESU completed the run chase in 18.2 overs with the loss of 5 wickets.
YWC thrashed PCC, Mayai Koibi by 71 runs in the day's other match at Moijing Public Ground, Thoubal.
Heisnam Manikanta Singh (68 not out) and Ngangbam Bingson Singh (52) took YWC to a respectable total of 192/7 in 35 overs.
For PCC, Lucky Thokchom scalped 3 wickets with one wicket each taken by L Chingheihunba Meitei, Takhelmayum Vikash and Mairembam Lucky Meitei.
YWC bowlers then successfully defended the total as they regularly took wickets led by Yumnam Athouba (2) and others to eventually restrict PCC for 121/7 in 30 overs.
PCC captain Bobby Meitei Khangembam (38) was the team's highest scorer.
