12th Manipur Veteran T20 Cricket : LCCC, REYS kick off league campaign on winning notes

Imphal, February 10 2025: LCCC, Lilong Chajing and REYS, Khwai Nagamapal opened their league campaign in the 12th Manipur Veteran T20 Cricket Tournament on winning notes today.

In the Group D league match staged this morning at Langthabal Public Ground, LCCC successfully defended their total of 176/8 by restricting Model Club, Chingamakha to 162/5 .

Shahjahan blazed a quickfire 67 off 42 balls for LCCC after they won the toss and added to bat first while Srinivas added second highest 23.Birjit (3/37) and Mujibur (2/27) of Model Club shared 5-wickets in this innings.

In reply, Thoithoi 34 not out and Priyobarta 13 not out did their best but could propel to 162 .

Kison was the pick of the LCCC bowler as he finished with a three wicket haul (3/34) .

Shahjahan was declared man of the match.

Later in a Group A match, REYS bundled out BSC-A, Brahmapur Sangai Chuthek for 85 runs in 19 overs and chased down the target in 7 overs at the cost of just one wicket thanks to Jayenta's unbeaten fifty (59 off 27 balls) .

Doheshwar (2/13), Bedamohon (2/19) and Deepak (2/12) of REYS earlier shared 6 wickets as three others picked a wicket apiece.

For BSC-A, Thoungam was the highest run getter on 26 runs before Yaiphatanba picked the only wicket in the second innings.

Jayenta who starred with the bat for REYS was eventually named man of the match.
