WPC drub YSUC in Philem Irabot 1st Div Football League

Imphal, October 04 2024: The 4th Philem Irabot Singh Memorial 1st Division District Football League 2023-24 kicked off on Friday at Wangoo Ahallup playground, Bishnupur district.

WPC eased past YSUC 3-0 in the opening match of the five-team tournament, organised by Wangoo Popular Club (WPC) under the aegis of District Football Association, Moirang.

Y Dayananda opened the scoring in the 26th minute, L Gouro extended the lead in the 35th minute and S Jack made it 3-0 in the 52nd minute to eventually seal the victory for their team.

The opening ceremony of the tournament saw Moirang AC MLA Thongam Shanti, Kumbi AC MLA Sanasam Premchandra and DC Bishnupur L Bikram in attendance.

The teams in the competition are WPC Wangoo, YSUC Phubala, KNK Keibul, KIYDO Kwakta and UYT Thamnapokpi.

Meanwhile, the Saturday match between UYT and KNK has been postponed due to unplayable field conditions caused by rain, the organisers announced on Friday.
