Karate-Do Moreh team wins 11 medals at Int'l Karate Championship in Kolkata

Imphal, July 29 2024:
The seven-member Karate-Do Moreh team won 11 medals, including five gold, at the 8th International Karate Championship 2024, which was held in Kolkata from July 26 to 28 .
On the first day of the competition, the Moreh karatekas produced a strong showing to secure five gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
Both Kongkham Preety Chanu and Namoijam Mahesh Meitei dished out a stellar performance to win two gold medals apiece.
Thiyam Premkumar, on the other hand, clinched one gold and one silver while Irengbam Pushpa Chanu took one silver.
The Moreh team also added two bronze to their medal tally courtesy of Sarungbam Rostum and Naorem Dolly Chanu.
On the final day of the championship, they collected one each of silver and bronze to wrap up their successful campaign with 11 medals.
Meanwhile, coach Aram-bam Greatson Meitei and Meitei Council Moreh president Mayanglambam Thoiba Meitei thanked chief minister N Biren Singh for providing a cash incentive to the Karate-Do Moreh team.
