KSC win Manoranjan football tournament

Imphal, January 29 2022:
IMPHAL: Kuki Sporting Club (KSC), Kangpokpi defeated Classic Football Academy (CFA) by a 1-0 margin to win the 12th Shaheed Manoran-jan Singh Memorial Football Tournament 2022 on Saturday at SAI football turf, Takyel.
Ginminthang scored the only goal of the match in the 24th minute.Champions KSC received a prize money of Rs 3,00,000 along with a trophy and med-als.
Runners-up Classic FA were given Rs 2,00,000 along with a trophy and medals.Also, Rs 10,000 and a tro-phy each were awarded to best goalkeeper Jetlee Sorokhai-bam of Classic FA, top scorer P Naoba of ESU, man of the final match Ginminthang Hangsing of KSC and best player of the tournament Lunkhominlen of KSC.Speaking as chief guest, DGP Manipur Paotinmang Doungel, IPS, said that or-ganising such a tournament to honour and commemorate our brave heroes is very en-couraging.
The sacrifice made by Shaheed Manoranjan for the motherland will remain in the hearts of the people forever.
It is also a pride for the state to have organised such events by encouraging sport talents of the state, he added.
Altogether 24 top teams from across the state par-ticipated in the tournament which started from January 8.The closing function was also attended by IGP CRPF Manish Kumar Aggrawal, DIGP Ravindra Singh Rautela and officers from CRPF and Manipur police, Ng Memcha Devi, mother of Shaheed Manoranjan Singh, and family members, and others.
The tournament was organised by 143 Bn CRPF and Imphal West Football Association under the aegis of AMFA.
It may also be mentioned that to honour the brave son of the soil Shaheed Ng Manoranjan Singh and to keep his memory alive, Sha-heed Manoranjan Singh Me-morial Football Tournament has been being organised since 2010.Shaheed Manoranjan was awarded police medal for gallantry (posthumously).
He sacrificed his life during an operation against Maoists as an assistant commandant at Singhanmadgu village, Dan-tewada district in Chhattis-garh in 2009 .
