Khongjon YC vs Ziontlang SYC in Chandel 1st Division title clash

Imphal, October 28 2024: Khongjon YC and Ziontlang SYC secured identical 3-2 semi-final victories to enter the final of the DC Chandel Trophy 1st Division Football League Tournament at Ziontlang playground.

In the first semi-final match, Khongjon YC overcame Japhou YC's fightback in the second half to seal the 3-2 .

Khongjon YC enjoyed 2-1 first half lead thanks to goal from Jupa (12') and Kenphasha (17') before Oliver converted a penalty in the 41st minute for Japhou YC.

Kophadeen scored Khongjon YC's third in the 64th minute to make it 3-1 but Japhou YC rallied to reduce the gap through Renghong in the 67th minute.

Khongjon YC however managed to deter Japhou YC onslaught in the later stages to come out 3-2 winners.

The other semi-final also saw SASA staging a fightback twice but it was not enough as Ziontlang SYC emerged 3-2 winners.

Ziontlang SYC dominated the earlier proceedings and entered into the break with a 2-0 advantage courtesy of goals coming from MK Kampu (18') and MK Jefrey (27') before D Robingam pulled back a goal for SASA in the 49th minute.

Ziontlang SYC yet again retained their two goal advantage through PR Lungir in the 75th minute before D Wangtong scored another for SASA in the 82nd minute.

Ziontlang SYC then held of SASA's spirited attempt to draw level in the remainder of the game to seal the game 3-2 and set up the final date with Khongjon YC .
