Pou Legend FC clinch Poumai Premier League Season X title

Pou Legend FC beat Paohkhaodu FC 3-1 to win the Poumai Premier League Season X 2024 title on Saturday at Astro Turf Ground, Senapati.
The closing ceremony of Season X, 2024, was attended by a large crowd filling the stadium gallery and all areas of the ground.
The closing event saw J Kumo Sha, MLA 47-Karong AC, as the chief guest, and Adahrii Maheo, CEO ADC Senapati, the guest of honour, with the president of Poumai Naga Union, and J Koveo, president Senapati District Olympic Association, Manipur, attending as the special guests.
ADC CEO Adahrii Maheo praised the PPL for providing a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents and skills.
Maheo highlighted that true victory lies in the effort and determination put forth, and he urged athletes to uphold sportsmanship by supporting teammates, respecting opponents, and playing fairly.
MLA Kumo Sha highlighted the importance of sports in India's growing sports industry and the rise of ISL, adding that many athletes have achieved financial success through sports and urged players to demonstrate commitment and dedication to their professional pursuits.
Sha also called on the PPL committee to nurture young talent in collaboration with the district sports association, advocating for an unbiased approach to talent development.
In the final match, defending champions Pou Legend FC stunned defending champions Paohkhaodu FC 3-1.Pou Legend FC have reached the semifinals four times and the final twice in previous seasons.
Pou Legend FC took an early lead with two goals in the first half, including one from a corner kick by Dahrii (Jersey No.9) and another from a header.
Paohkhaodu FC managed to score a goal in the second half, but Pou Legend FC sealed their victory with a long-range shot, finishing the match 3-1.Pou Legend FC emerged as champions, receiving a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh, a trophy, and certificates, while Paohkhaodu FC, as runners-up, received Rs 60,000 and certificates.
The individual awards included the golden booth for highest goal scorers, shared by Haotinsem (Risk Raven FC) and Chinakho (Paohkhaodu FC), each scoring 8 goals.
The golden glove went to Chinavi (Paohkhaodu FC), while Rakeveiche (Pou Legend FC) received the golden ball.
Ngaopuni (Paohkhaodu FC) got the best coach award, and Mevei Grey (Pou Legend FC) was named the best manager.
In an interview, Paohkha odu FC president KD Silas admitted his team's shortcomings during the final but expressed optimism about coming back stronger in the next season.
Meanwhile, Pou Legend FC's coach commented he had complete confidence in his team and was pleased to see all the players showcase their skills in the final match, which ultimately secured them the title.
