State Open Badminton C'ship : S Bidyasagar, O Aimson, Ng Rishav enter men's singles semis

Imphal, July 27 2024:
Salam Bidyasagar of Imphal West, Oinam Aimson of Bishnupur and Ngangom Rishav of Bishnupur progress into the semi-finals of the men's singles competition in the ongoing 68th State Open Badminton Championship.
Bidyasagar reached the semifinals with a 21-5, 21-15 win over compatriot Kshetrimayum Devajit in the first quarterfinal match this evening before Oinam Aimson got the better of Leishangthem Unilkumar of Thoubal 21-15, 21-18 in the second quarterfinal match.
Ng Rishav in the meantime outlasted Kasprov Ahanthem of Imphal West 21-18, 21-9 to make his place in the semi-finals.
Earlier in the day, Bidyasagar reached the quarterfinals with a 21-19, 21-10 win over Kalo Truman of Senapati while Aimson defeated Chirom Vikson 21-11, 19-21, 21-17 .
Rishav Meanwhile pulled off a 21-15, 22-20 win in the last-16 round today to confirm his quarterfinal ticket.
The day also saw Leonie Tayenjam and Angita Naorem of Imphal West making it to the last-4 round in the women's singles competition.
Leonie booked his semi-final ticket with an easy 21-5, 21-9 win over Khwairakpam Roshni of Bishnupur while Angita eased past Kakching's Sagorika Naorem 21-4, 21-8 to confirm her place in the semis.
Doubles
The quarterfinal line up of the men's doubles competition was also completed today.
H Rohenkumar, RK Alen entered quarterfinals with a 18-21, 21-12, 21-9 win over Ch Ritesh and K Nganba before Kasprov Ahanthem and Khwairakpam Amarjit overwhelmed Elow Kaje and Kalo Truman 21-6, 21-14; Oinam Aimson and Oinam Chandrajit edged out Elangbam Richard and M Nicky 21-18, 15-21, 21-17; and Khoirom Punshiba and Leishangthem Unilkumar outlasted R Chuingachan Shimray and Reingahan Kasar 21-12, 21-10 .
In other Round of 16 matches, Elangbam Shitaljit- M Rishi pair outlasted AS Khagampam and Pouchun Dibou 17-21, 21-18, 21-18; Bidyachandra Khundrakpam and Saikhom Gung defeated K Thomas and Ksh Devajit 21-13, 22-20; N Siamond Kumar and W Juvaraj eased past AK Bony and H Shushilkumar 21-13, 21-19 and Chirom Vikson and RK Ronald edged out L Brikson and H Malemnganba 18-21, 21-19, 21-19 .
