69th State Open Badminton Championship : Stage set for men's singles last-16 round

Imphal, April 19 2025: The pre-quarterfinal line up of the men's singles competition and the quarterfinal line up of the U-15 boys singles competition were completed today in the ongoing 69th State Open Badminton Championship.

Men's singles : Salam Bidyasagar, Mayanglambam Bikash reach pre-quarterfinals

Salam Bidyasagar of Imphal West (IW), Mayanglambam Bikash of Kakching (Kak) and 14 others progressed into the pre-quarterfinals of the men's singles competition today.

Bidyasagar confirmed his last-16 round berth with a 21-9, 21-16 win over Imphal East's (IE) Salam Trearly as M Bikash defeated IWt's Pheiroijam Kelvin 21-12, 21-12 .

Senapati's Kalo Truman also reached the last-16 stage with a 21-11, 21-10 win over Elangbam Lamnganba of IW as Bishnupur's (Bpr) Ngangom Rishav outlasted IW's H Malemnganba 21-9, 21-9 .

In other round of 32 clashes, Thoubal's (Tbl) Saikhom Gung overcame IW's Kh Kuljit 21-6, 21-19; IW's Thokchom Hursh beat Ksh Kenorish of Kakching 21-7, 21-11; Bpr's Oinam Aimson beat IW's M Vivek 21-9, 22-20; Ch Ritesh of IW beat Bpr's L Brikson 21-12, 21-12; Moirangthem Sirzeet of IE beat Jiribam's Ingudam Roshan 21-16, 21-6; IE's Singam Jomi beat IW's Kh Dickson 21-12, 21-9; IW's Upananda beat Kakching's L Dinesh 21-12, 21-10; Senapati's Pfoki Liruna beat IW's W Neel 21-17, 21-17; IW's Sarangthem Joychandra eased past Athokpam Sanaren of IE 21-5, 21-9; Hemam Malemnganba of Bpr beat Kakching's L Bidyananda 21-13, 21-8; IW's K Nganba beat Bpr's H Jonathan 21-1, 21-7 and Moirangthem Sushanta of Kakching beat IW's M Roshan 21-6, 21-10 .

Ng Yaiphaba, M Prince reach U-15 boys singles quarterfinals

Meanwhile in the U-15 boys singles, Ng Yaiphaba, Moirangthem Prince and 6 others secured quarterfinal berths.

Ng Yaiphaba earned his place in the quarterfinals with a 21-15, 24-22 win over S Mahesh in the first pre-quarterfinal match before M Prince got the better of M Kelvin 21-16, 21-16 in another pre-quarterfinal match.

In other pre-quarterfinal matches, Waikhom Leonard beated K Nongleikhomba 21-9, 21-8; Thokchom Yangba beat K Bonyraj 21-7, 21-11; Leishungbam Loyangamba overcame Chirom Netcover 27-25, 24-22; Mayanglambam Rustam beat Ph Thoihenba 21-15, 21-12; Kongkham Ashiskumar edged out H Chintu 18-21, 21-14, 22-20; and Lairenmayum Shriyan beat RK Bidyananda 21-13, 21-12 to seal their places in the last-8 round.
