AFC, MPSC triumph as YPHU, FCL spilt points in State League

Athletics Football Club (AFC) overcame a stiff challenge from Liwachangning Youth Cultural Club (LYCC) to take all three points, while Manipur Police Sports Club (MPSC) carved out a 2-1 win over United Brothers FC (UBFC) in Thursday's fixtures of the 16th Manipur State League.
AFC rode on Laishram Roshan Singh's first-half goal to edge past LYCC 1-0 in a Group A match played at DSA Ground, Kakching.
AFC were rewarded for their efforts in the early stages as Rohan was on hand to capitalise on a well-timed pass at the other end, putting his team in front in the 13th minute.
AFC then successfully fended off spirited comeback attempts from their opponents to take full points.
In other Group A match, MPSC scored twice in the first half to beat UBFC 2-1 at Artificial Turf Ground.

Nongthombam Boyboysa-na opened the scoring for MPSC in the 35th minute via a penalty kick before Khem Bahadur BK doubled their lead in the 37th minute as the police squad went into the second period with a 2-0 advantage.
UBFC fought hard and halved the deficit in the 74th minute with Somishang R Shimray finding the back of the net.
Despite their relentless efforts in the remaining minutes, UBFC were unable to have their way as MPSC put up a staunch resistance to win 2-1.On the other hand, Young Physiques Union (YPHU) and Football Club Lamjao (FCL) played out a goalless draw in a keenly contested Group B match at DSA Ground, Kakching.
