Affiliation of Sepak Takraw under MOA still uncertain

Imphal, November 16 2011: Although the state of Manipur is clearly dominating Sepak Takraw event in the national scene for the last two decades and and it underscored its dominance once again by claiming all 4 gold medals in the men's and women's in sports extravaganza of the country "National Games".

But inspite of these achievements it is still not a member of Manipur Olympic Association, why ? .

Sepak Takraw believed to have originated from South East Asia perhaps from Malaysia has been one of the most popular games in Manipur.

The game itself, is supposed to have elements of football, Gymnastics and some indigenous games of the state which makes it easier for our players to pick it up.

Not only pick up the game but our players have excelled and have given us many winning performances.

The image of this game, in fact has continued grow at par and was given recognition by the Sepak Takraw Federation of India.

Established in 1982 the State Association has produced talented players and sense of this game amongst the populace of the state.

The state dominance has won predictable rave review even in the Indian press.

The praise heaped on Manipur players/teams should come as a welcome whiff of refreshing breeze to the sports lovers of this tiny state.

With the burden of capturing all gold medals in any competition the team always sought to stand up to every single challenge for the title.

The team, in fact has fulfilled the dream of the people of the state.

But recognisation/regularisation by the Manipur Olympic Association is still uncertain.

Why is the MOA delaying giving due recognition to All Manipur Sepak Takraw Association? The factor of uncertainly about recognition brings intolerable hindrance to the entire development works of Sepak Takraw.

This affects not only the administrative but also to the entire players body.

And at this point of time a more pointed relevant question would be " Is there any one sided role or influence in giving affiliation to AMSTA in the right perspective ?" These are the questions that the supreme authority MOA has to, one time or the other, answer.

Most disappointing thing kind of treatment to Sepak Takraw event received from MOA.

Winning 4 gold medals in the National Games, is it a boon or curse to the Sepak Takraw fans ? And - despite so much of talk over the issue of granting affiliation to AMSTA, Manipur Olympic Association has still had no contest why ? Why should not ? Had not time for MOA (the apex body) to give up their habit of wasting time and delaying on recognising All Manipur Sepak Takraw Association thereby energizing to creating sense of sincerity and dedication.

President of MOA, knowing the clear dominance of the event by Manipur in the national scene and sentiment of the entire population should immediately grant recognition to AMSTA.

Sepak Takraw Lovers, players and organizers should press for immediate recognition of AMSTA to MOA.

And in the meantime AMSTA also need very humbly seek the indulgence of Hon'ble President, MOA since even a little intervention by the hon'ble good office would go a long way in making a positive impact not only to Sepak Takraw body but also in improving the standard and securing a reasonable future of this lovely game.
