Kh Bidyashagar nets thrice as Manipur crush hosts Tripura 5-1

Imphal, December 15 2025: Manipur got off to a flying start in the 79th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy 2025-26 Group D competition as Khangembam Bidyashagar Singh nets thrice to set up a 5-1 win against hosts Tripura at Umakanta Mini Stadium in Agartala tonight.

Manipur dominated the game from the word go and strung a series of runs against the hosts.

The hosts stood up the pressure but their citadel was finally breached in the 23rd minute Khangembam Bidyashagar Singh finding the target.

Manipur then raced to a 2-0 lead thanks to Chanam Akash's 33rd minute strike before Phijam Sanathoi made it 3-0 after 39 minutes.

Amit Jamatia pulled back a goal in the 53rd minute for Tripura but Bidyashagar scored his second in the 68th minute with a sweeping finish to retain the three goal cushion before completing his treble in the 72nd minute.
