Indian Army honours lifter Olympian S Mirabai

Imphal, August 12 2024: The Indian Army today honoured weightlifter Saikhom Mirabai Chanu at her residence following her performance at Paris Olympics 2024 .

Senior Officials from the Indian Army visited Tohyo Games silver medallist Mirabai's residence to present her a special memento, acknowledging her remarkable achievement and inspiration she provided to millions across the country, said PIB (Defence Wing) in a statement.

The event was a moment of pride not only for Mirabai Chanu and her family but also for the entire State of Manipur, which is known for producing some of Nation's finest athletes, it said.

Mirabai's performance at the Paris Olympics has brought immense glory to India.

Her perseverance and commitment to excellence exemplify the spirit of the Nation, it said.

The recognition of Mirabai is part of the army's broader commitment to celebrating and fostering sporting talent across the Nation, it added.
